About the Shia Endowment Diwan
A national institution caring for endowments
The Shia Endowment Diwan is the Iraqi institution responsible for Shia endowments (awqaf). It was established after the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs was dissolved in 2003 and its duties were distributed among the endowment diwans of the respective denominations.
The Diwan's administrative structure reflects its responsibilities: its departments work as one body in managing all aspects of endowments, supporting its active role in serving society and its development.
